ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Director, Management System Integration, the Audit Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Integrated Management System (“IMS”) and compliance-related auditing in support of NexGen’s Rook I Project (“Project”). This role will work closely with the IMS team as well as process owners and stakeholders across the NexGen Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (“HSEQ”), Permitting, Project Development, and Exploration teams.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
(including but not limited to):

  • Develop and maintain a Project-wide audit schedule in alignment with current and emerging priority areas and on a risk-informed basis, maintaining adherence to relevant regulations as determined by key Project stakeholders and management.
  • Develop audit plans for approval by internal audit clients which provide clarity of scope, general timelines for audit execution, and appropriate audit team assignments.
  • Coordinate the work of the assigned audit team throughout the lifecycle of audit activities, including the review of relevant audit criteria in preparation for audits.
  • Develop and maintain audit protocols and checklists as appropriate to foster consistent auditing practice.
  • Lead and perform scheduled audits as assigned (including document and records review, data analysis, interviews, and observation) to assess the degree of conformance and compliance of established management system processes and provide for improvement suggestions which can enhance the management system’s effectiveness and align with best practices.
  • Effectively communicate audit results and recommendations to management and stakeholders through periodic audit updates, audit closure meetings, and the completion of formal audit reports.
  • Monitor and verify that identified audit findings are addressed through the Project’s Integrated Management System (IMS) Incident and Deviation Management process and associated corrective actions are followed-up for effectiveness.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards for oneself and the audit team, including maintaining confidentiality as appropriate, impartiality, and objectivity during the performance of audits.
  • Maintain a positive audit culture, including building and maintaining positive relationships with audit clients and within the Project organization.
  • Establish and provide regular key performance indicator (KPI) updates on audit performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), with a preference for a STEM-related academic focus.
  • Auditing certification (preference for current certificates attesting to competency to audit across ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001).
  • Working knowledge of quality or integrated management systems.
  • 5+ years continuous auditing experience with 2 or more of the most recent years demonstrating audit program management and audit leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated experience within the mining, energy, engineering, or heavy industry sectors is a must.
  • Experience in the nuclear/uranium sector is considered an asset.
  • Strong digital literacy using the Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and provide coordination across multiple disciplines.

LOCATION

The role will be based in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Project Office with regular travel to the Rook I Project site to support the execution of scheduled audits.
