Role Overview

Reporting to the Project Liaison Manager, the Employee’s primary responsibilities will include:  Support the onboarding process of summer students.  Coordinate safe and efficient shift changes. Ensure that daily tasks are appropriately assigned to and completed by summer students in a safe manner, following site procedures and protocol. Offer daily support and guidance to summer students. Carry out daily administrative tasks; and Support the Operations and Exploration Services department as directed and when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement:

Participate in at least two community events and celebrations in the LPA, including the Canada Day BBQ in La Loche; additional events may include the Yanessa Days BBQ, Treaty Day Celebrations, Traditional Land Base Family Camp, Hodge Lake Campout, etc. 

Key Responsibilities:

·       Lead Mentorship

Act as the primary mentor and guide for Summer Students, providing leadership and support to ensure a positive work experience for all participants. 

·       Departmental Involvement

Work alongside Summer Students in various departments as noted above, setting an example of professionalism and dedication. 

·       Program Execution Assistance

Assist in the overall execution of the Program, including coordination of schedules, overseeing task assignments, and ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols. 

·       Safety and Compliance

Monitor and enforce safety standards among Summer Students, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and protocols. 

·       Feedback and Evaluation 

Provide regular feedback to Summer Students, contributing to their learning and development. Participate in the evaluation process to assess the effectiveness of the Program and the performance of the students. 

·       Problem-Solving and Support

Act as a point of contact for any issues or concerns that Summer Students might have, offering solutions and support as needed; flag important issues with NexGen management as appropriate. 

·       Communication and Liaison

Facilitate communication between the students, Program administrators, and department heads

·       Must be an LPA resident
·       Completed Grade 12 diploma 
·       Are recently accepted or intending on returning to post-secondary education in the fall.
