Role Overview

Reporting to the Site Radiation Safety Officer, the Site Radiation Technician plays a key role in executing the radiation protection program at the Rook I site. This is a field-focused position where you will conduct radiological monitoring, collect and analyze radiation survey data, support regulatory compliance activities, and help ensure effective radiation controls are in place across construction, commissioning, and operational areas. The incumbent will promote safe work practices, provide radiological support to field activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that protect workers, the public, and the environment. As part of a collaborative team, you will help foster a strong safety culture while supporting the responsible development of the Rook I Project.

Location
This position will be based at the Rook I site on a 2 week in/2 week out rotation. NexGen’s Rook I Project Site is located approximately 155km north of La Loche, Saskatchewan. Accommodations and meals are provided while on rotation. Travel logistics to/from site are coordinated by NexGen.

Key Responsibilities

(Including but not limited to)
  • Perform radiological monitoring and surveys of personnel, equipment, materials, work areas, and Rook I site facilities.
  • Collect, document, and manage radiological monitoring data.
  • Conduct contamination surveys and verify radiological controls are effective.
  • Support implementation of NexGen’s Radiation Protection Program and reinforce radiation protection requirements with NexGen employees and contractors.
  • Provide field guidance on radiation protection procedures and safe work practices.
  • Ensure radiation detection and monitoring equipment remains functional, accurate, and compliant.
  • Participate in field-level planning, hazard assessments, pre-job briefings, and toolbox talks.
  • Verify proper handling, storage, transport, and control of radioactive materials and equipment.
  • Complete radiation survey reports, monitoring records, exposure tracking documentation, and JSAs.
  • Support radiation protection reporting and regulatory compliance requirements, including assisting with radiation protection inspections, audits and assessments.
  • Enter, maintain, and verify radiation protection data within applicable systems.
  • Track corrective actions and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support personnel dosimetry programs, including issuance, collection, tracking, and reporting.
  • Monitor worker exposures and support dose management activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Certificate in radiation or environmental monitoring technician or a degree or diploma in a science-related field.
  • Preferred 1 + years of work experience with radiation protection principles.
  • Experience in mining, uranium, or construction environments is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
  • Strong adaptability and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced site environment.
  • Satisfactory completion of a Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Test as required for the Rook I project.
