Role Overview
LOCATION
This position is either based at the Saskatoon NexGen office or remote with occasional travel to Saskatoon. The position schedule is Monday-Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and providing input during the design and development of engineering projects.
- Ensuring required documentation is assembled and provided to the NexGen finance team as part of financial approval processes.
- Project management of service and material procurement packages. Including but not limited to preparation of scopes of work, coordination of the combining of technical and commercial documents, ensuring bidder clarifications are answered, assisting in bid evaluations, and managing of vendors post contract award.
- Assisting with project planning, including cost estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Collaborating with senior engineers and other team members to provide input on technical problems
- Reviewing of engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Participating in field visits and inspections to gather data and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Staying current with advancements in engineering technology and best practices.
- Communicate and provide information to other Project Development teams.
- Engage with project stakeholders, including internal NexGen resources, external contractors and suppliers.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Contribute to process improvements and innovative solutions.
- Maintain project documentation and report progress.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Completion of a recognized engineering degree program in mechanical, structural, or mining engineering; preferred Bachelor's degree.
- Prior Internship or Co-Op experience with a mining company is a plus.
- Prior exposure to shaft sinking, construction or operations is a plus.
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to real-world challenges.
- Ability to work in both office and field environments.
- Proficiency and/or the ability to learn engineering software and tools commonly used in the industry.
