Role Overview
Location
This role is based in our Saskatoon, SK office with trips to the project site as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in investigations involving occupational illness, exposures, or health-related incidents
- Provide advisement, review, and support on application of Drug and Alcohol testing standards, implementation, and equipment, processes, and laboratories for offsite analysis
- Develop health and wellness program documentation including claims and case management processes
- Provide advisement, review, and support on development of leading practice Care Management processes
- Assist and support NexGen and 3rd party service provider with NexGen claims management processes
- Define and communicate site specific occupational health related training requirements
- Define requirements for site clinic, including reviewing, revising, communicating existing layout requirements, and provide logistical input to design of clinic area
- Ensure alignment with NexGen developed processes that support inventory management
- Develop health and wellness program documentation including claims and case management processes
- Establish, implement, and manage medical surveillance programs including:
- Audiometric testing
- Spirometry
- Respiratory fit testing
- Fitness-for-duty assessments
- Identify Occupational Health Services that will require “Telehealth” support and systems
- Assist 3rd party with set-up of Telehealth platform, development of procedural steps, and procurement of/training on communication devices
- Identify what format services will require to expedite communication and quality of services to achieve expected outcomes
- Lead identification and assessment of occupational health hazards (e.g., silica/dust, noise, radiation, diesel particulate, ergonomics)
- Conduct periodic reviews of occupational health programs to verify effectiveness
- Other duties as required
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, nursing, public health or related field or equivalent experience
- Registered healthcare professional with 3-5 years experience working in the mining industry is preferred
- Have an in-depth working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Saskatchewan Mining Regulations
- Strong digital literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
