Role Overview
Key Responsibilities
- As a key member of the Integrated Project Team (IPT), carries clear responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the objectives for the infrastructure scopes, and takes into consideration the full project lifecycle including engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.
- Managing day-to-day operations within their designated area, ensuring activities are executed in accordance with the project plan.
- Coordinating with consultants, contractors and project team members to proactively identify and address issues or constraints in their area.
- Collaborates with the functional Directors (Engineering, Procurement, Contracts, and Construction) to ensure that scope is executed to the appropriate standards within each project function.
- Coordinates, in conjunction with other area managers, between interfacing functional areas to ensure no aspects of the project are overlooked or lags in progress.
- Coordinates and monitors area team members in their performance and influences their activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are achieved.
- Minimizes interface problems and project delays by coordinating the different functions and recommending the order of work.
- Monitors and controls their area of the project in line with the detailed scope, cost, and schedule control baselines and manages any project changes in terms of this agreed baseline.
- Exercises budgetary control to ensure costs are not exceeded without proper authority. Provide such information as is required by the Project Director to obtain additional authorization where necessary.
- Ensures governance on their project area, specifically compliance to project delegations of authority, procedures, and policies.
This position would ideally be based in the Saskatoon office, with travel as required. For the right candidate, the position could be located elsewhere, with the understanding that regular trips to Saskatoon would be required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 15 + years’ of engineering or project experience, with 5 years being at a senior project or area management level on projects of similar size.
- Strong experience executing similar scopes of work (earthworks, tailings, airstrips, camps, utilities, ancillary facilities).
- Experience working within an Integrated Project Team or an owner’s team would be an asset.
- Experience on greenfield mining projects, specifically during site initialization.
- Experience on uranium projects an asset.
- Knowledge of major mining product suppliers and service providers.
Core Competencies
- 15 + years’ of engineering or project experience, with 5 years being at a senior project or area management level on projects of similar size.
